It was a busy market day day in St Remy de Provence when we visited on Wednesday
We stocked up some cheese and olives (not too much as we leave Blauzac on Friday)
This porchetta and lapin caught our eye, but was not a purchase
Admired the pottery
Wandered through the narrow passageways, admiring the pretty houses and ancient buildings
Learnt that Nostradamus was born and grew up in St Remy
Bought some chocolate from our favourite chocolatier
and listened to some music
Oh, come on, guys. You're making Debbie so restless, and I've got work to do here in Sydney. Don't you know you are supposed to remember holidays fondly, not actually enjoy them at the time as well.
ReplyDeleteHow about at least one day of warts and all. I've been with you both in Sydney and it's not all lovey-dovey. How about a little tension in the kitchen, a conversation that turns awkward on an inappropriate phrase, a little "I'm too tired for that" spat. Surely there's been a rancid foie gras that gave you the runs, a scratch on the rental car, a leaky sewer, a bad-tempered waiter (it's France, for God's sake!) who charged you E50 instead of the special at E20, or just a limp lettuce leaf will do. Please tell me your favourite wine was corked, or you've been tired and can't find a place to eat, or you wanted to go there and he wanted to go here.
Or failing any of that, I can't take it any more. Just give us the address of this incredible place, uniquely blessed on the entire planet, we'll drop everything, bugger the business and be on our way there. Is there a sofa we can sleep on? A rug on the floor will do? An outside toilet? Fine. We'll have wine in one hand, fresh foie gras in the other, get the baguettes ready, wonderland here we come!
Cheers, Graham
