From tree to table

As we have walked around Blauzac each day we have noticed many fig trees, their  branches laden with fruit hanging over onto the road.

We have also noticed that there are many figs on the ground.

To us this means that the owner of the tree does not want the fruit, so we have no hesitation in picking off the branches hanging outside the property.

That's not stealing, is it?

A handful at a time - bursting with sweetness.

And enjoyed this morning on our cereal

No, we don't have croissants every morning!

  1. I'll bet they are the sweetest figs you'll ever have. No Australian shop-bought fig will live up to what you have just tasted.

  2. They are smaller as well. Not the flabby fig we usually get in Sydney

  3. Visited Adelaide this March and went to a fig grower- they had quite old varieties in the orchard. Pick your own meant testing the best types and we found some wrinkled ones still on the branch to have the most amazing flavour. That's the nearest I'll be getting to your current experience. Hope the conversational French is holding up.
